UFC is headed back to Canada for UFC 297 and to celebrate, we are going to usher in the highly anticipated Ultimate Tier of UFC Strike! What better way to welcome this tier than with the crowning-achievement of the greatest Canadian mixed martial artist of all-time, Georges St-Pierre? Four years removed from his title defense at UFC 167, “GSP” returned to the Octagon to realize a goal that was not achieved during his reign as welterweight king: becoming a two-division UFC champion. At UFC 217, St-Pierre submitted Michael Bisping, dominantly capturing the UFC middleweight title. The Ultimate Tier is highly exclusive, featuring monumental wins, crowning achievements, and iconic moments in UFC history that stand the test of time, and there is no better candidate than one of the greatest athletes to ever compete in the Octagon.

In addition to “GSP”’s championship-winning performance, The Maple Rush pack will feature some of the biggest milestone victories to take place on Canadian soil, Canadian athletes, top welterweight and middleweight performances, and iconic finishes from athletes that have found success in multiple weight classes. Starting off our Champion Tier additions is Alex Pereira! His first UFC matchup against his former kickboxing foe, Israel Adesanya, at UFC 281 saw “Poatan” claim the middleweight championship in dramatic fashion, earning a standing TKO against the Octagon in round 5. This title-winning performance propelled Pereira to super-stardom and paved the way for his career-defining move to light heavyweight in 2023 (and you know what happened there!).
Next up is Max Holloway’s historic championship performance against Brian Ortega in Ontario, Canada at UFC 231. Holloway landed a record-breaking 290 significant strikes over four rounds - a record that stood untouched for three years until Holloway himself shattered it against Calvin Kattar in January of 2021. The best is Blessed.
Rounding out our Champion Tier additions is Leon “Rocky” Edwards’ masterful striking performance in his trilogy bout with Kamaru Usman at UFC 286. As spectacular as his head kick KO was over Usman at UFC 278, it wasn’t until this performance that Edwards truly got his recognition as the best welterweight in the world, outclassing the former champion from start to finish, and cementing his place on the pound for pound list.
